Latitude Zero Surf Resorts

The Challenge

Surf resorts like Latitude Zero face unique demands for outdoor wellness: equipment must withstand relentless ocean spray, salt corrosion, intense equatorial sun, and high humidity without any cover.

The team specifically needed a cold plunge that could sit uncovered right by the beach, with a chiller engineered for harsh marine conditions, reliable performance for fatigued surfers returning from all-day sessions on heavy reefs.

The Solution

We collaborated with Latitude Zero to deliver marine-grade teak ice baths optimized for exposed coastal use.

  • Fully waterproof construction with 316 stainless steel hardware, UV-resistant varnish, and sealed electricals
  • High-capacity outdoor chiller (1.5 HP titanium heat exchanger) proven in saltwater environments
  • Compact, portable design for easy relocation if needed (e.g., for events or tides)
  • Installed on existing beach decking for seamless integration

The resorts’ on-site team built complementary wooden steps around each unit for safe, elevated access post-surf.

Timeline

  • Early 2024 – Initial contact for Nusa Tenggara; tested outdoor chiller performance
  • Mid-2024 – First ice bath shipped from Bali and installed at Nusa Tenggara
  • Late 2024 – Based on success, second unit ordered and shipped for Telo Islands
  • Both operational since early 2025

Results & Client Feedback

  • Both ice baths maintain 6–8 °C consistently, even uncovered in full tropical exposure
  • Extremely popular with surfers: used daily as a recovery ritual after morning-to-sunset sessions, reducing soreness and boosting next-day energy
  • No corrosion or downtime reported in the harsh ocean-side conditions
  • Enhanced the resorts’ wellness appeal, drawing repeat bookings from wave-chasers seeking that “perfect post-surf reset”
