The Challenge

The W Hotel Seminyak already had a cold plunge in its main AWAY Spa, but the original system (installed when the hotel opened) could only reach 16 °C.

Guest demand for a true ice bath experience (6–8 °C) was growing fast, especially from international guests and influencers visiting during high season. Replacing the built-in system would have required major construction work and spa closure – not an option for a 5-star property.

The Solution

We partnered with the W Seminyak spa team to create a dedicated pop-up ice bath zone within the existing spa footprint.

• One large custom teak ice bath capable of maintaining a constant 6 °C
• High-capacity commercial chiller and filtration system
• Bespoke wide teak steps with handrails built on-site for safe, elegant access suitable for all guests (including those in robes or with limited mobility)
• Positioned as a premium add-on experience alongside existing treatments

The entire installation was completed without any disruption to regular spa operations.

Timeline

• Early 2023 – W Seminyak contacted us about guest demand for colder water
• Mid 2023 – Design approval and on-site installation completed
• Operational since 2023 and running daily
