Four Seasons Kuda Huraa, Maldives
A Natural Fit
In mid-2024, the wellness team at Four Seasons, Maldives wanted to introduce cold water immersion to their programme. They wanted an icebath that could perform in harsh conditions, placed directly on the beach.
Four Seasons has always been guided by a deep respect for the environments its properties inhabit. The team wanted a unit that was natural, warm, and crafted with the same care the property brings to everything it does.
We were happy that the Four Seasons trusted us all the way from Bali to be their vendor for there icebath project on the beach. Specifically the Barrel. . Handcrafted from hand-selected Indonesian teak, its curved form and marine-grade finish sit comfortably on a Maldivian beach.
Built for the Island
The Maldives is one of the most beautiful places on earth but also one of the most demanding. Salt air is constant. Equatorial sun is relentless. Humidity never drops. Tropical storms arrive with little notice. And getting anything to a private island in the middle of the Indian Ocean adds its own layer of complexity.
The Barrel was built for exactly this. Marine-grade stainless steel hardware, sealed waterproof enclosures, and a UV-resistant marine finish mean it stays where it is placed—performing quietly, year-round, without compromise. The chilling system maintains water at 6–7°C even when the ambient temperature rarely drops below 28°C, with continuous circulation keeping the water clean with multiple guests per day.
The engineering disappears. The ritual remains.
From Bali to the Maldives
The Barrel was crated at our workshop in Bali and shipped by sea freight to Malé, then transferred by boat to the island. Our team coordinated remotely with the Four Seasons facilities team to ensure the site was prepared before arrival. On the day, the ice bath was positioned and connected within hours.
The Four Seasons team then built a custom wooden deck around the ice bath steps, handrail, and a finish matched to the resort’s existing beachfront aesthetic. The result is an installation that looks as though it was designed as part of the property from the very beginning.
“We also enjoyed something that was a first for me: an ice bath. Even more, a first to do it in a tropical destination like the Maldives.”

How Guests Use It
The ice bath at Kuda Huraa has become a centrepiece of the resort’s wellness programme. The property’s ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island Spa now offers a signature treatment combining Reiki and sound healing with guided breathwork and ice bath immersion. It is one of four curated experiences available inside The Healing Tent, an 18-foot sanctuary on the resort’s private spa island.
Guests can also book a standalone breathwork and ice bath session focused on circulation, immune function, and stress relief.
The installation has drawn press attention too. BW Hotelier covered the property’s spa programme, noting that The Island Spa features ice bath immersion tailored for stress relief and inner peace.A hotel guest also filmed their first plunge. The video reached 2.8 million views on TikTok, with over 400,000 likes.

Frequently Asked Questions (Resorts)
Four Seasons
Can your ice baths be installed on a beach?
Yes. Our ice baths are built for permanent outdoor exposure in tropical environments. Marine-grade stainless steel hardware, sealed waterproof enclosures, and a UV-resistant marine finish are designed to withstand salt air, direct sunlight, humidity, and tropical storms as standard.
Do you ship to island locations and remote properties?
Yes. We coordinate the full logistics chain from our workshop in Bali to your property, including sea freight, customs documentation, and last-mile delivery by boat where required. We have shipped to the Maldives, across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
How do you support maintenance at a remote location?
Our ice baths are designed for minimal day-to-day maintenance. Routine care (filter cleaning, water management, lid usage) is handled by the property’s own staff using our maintenance guides. For anything beyond routine care, our team provides remote support via email and video call. Spare parts are stocked and can be shipped internationally.
Will the ice bath maintain temperature in extreme tropical heat?
Yes. Our chilling system maintains 5–7°C even in equatorial climates where ambient temperatures sit consistently above 28°C. The insulated teak construction and thermal lid help maintain temperature efficiently between uses.
Can we build custom decking and access around the ice bath?
Absolutely. Many of our hotel and resort clients build custom surrounds, decking, steps, and handrails to match their property’s aesthetic, just as Four Seasons did at Kuda Huraa. We provide the dimensions and clearance requirements, and your team or contractors handle the build. We are also happy to advise on the design.
