Installation Requirements

Our standard installation is straightforward. No plumbing, no special wiring, no dedicated circuits. The ice bath and chiller arrive as a self-contained system that connects in minutes.

If you are planning an indoor installation where you would like the chiller placed outside of the room, or if you are designing a dedicated space for your ice bath, we recommend reading the indoor installation section below or contacting our team directly so we can walk you through the options.

Basic Requirements

Flat, stable surface. Concrete, tiles, decking, or paving. Must support approximately 600kg.

Standard power socket. 220V. No extension leads.

Clear space of 2m x 2m. For the bath and chiller side by side, plus room to step in comfortably.

Door width of 85cm or wider. The narrowest point the unit needs to pass through to reach its location.

Drainage nearby (recommended). Not required for operation, but makes monthly water changes easier.

Voltage stabiliser (if required). Minimum 2,000VA. Required in most countries outside the EU, UK, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea. See the voltage stabiliser section below.

Indoor Installation

The ice bath is designed to work well indoors with the standard setup. The chiller operates at 52 decibels, which is comparable to a quiet conversation, and can be concealed behind furniture, inside a utility cupboard, or under steps provided it has adequate ventilation on all sides.

For those who would prefer the chiller to sit outside of the room entirely, this is an option. The chiller can be installed in an adjacent space and connected to the bath through a wall or partition, in the same way a split air conditioning system works. The result is a completely silent bathing space with no warm air, just the ice bath itself.

The standard pump has a maximum hose distance of 5 metres between the chiller and the bath. For installations that require a greater distance, we can retrofit a more powerful pump onto the system. Please message us with your floor plan or space dimensions and we will advise on the best configuration.

If you are designing a room or space around the ice bath, we are happy to work with your architect or contractor on placement, ventilation requirements, and hose routing. Contact our team with your plans and we will provide specific guidance for your project.

Outdoor Installation

All models are designed for outdoor use. The teak is finished with a marine-grade yacht coating and the chiller carries an IP67 waterproof rating. As long as the surface is flat and stable, you have access to a power socket, and there is adequate clearance around the chiller for ventilation, no additional preparation is needed.

Teak placed outdoors will develop a natural patina over time. This is cosmetic and does not affect the structure or watertight performance of the bath. It can be restored to its original appearance with a light sand and refinish. See our maintenance guide for details.

Balcony or Rooftop Installation

The total weight when filled and occupied is approximately 600kg, spread across roughly 1.5 square metres. That works out to around 400kg per square metre.

Ground floors and modern high-rise construction handle this without issue. We have installed on balconies and rooftops in Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Australia. For upper floors or rooftops in older buildings, we recommend checking with your building manager. We can provide exact weight specifications for your chosen model to support that conversation.

Dedicated Niche or Alcove

If you are building a custom space for your ice bath, allow at least 95cm width for the Barrel or Column (82cm body plus hose connections). If the niche is narrow, position the chiller separately in an adjacent area.

We recommend incorporating a floor drain into the design for easy water changes.

Power and Noise

The chiller uses 1,300 watts, similar to a medium air conditioner. It runs on a standard 220V outlet. Most homes have enough capacity without any electrical upgrades. Once the water reaches your target temperature, the chiller cycles on and off to maintain it. Running costs are modest.

We install a 2 metre power cord as standard, with any plug type specific to your region. Contact the team if you need a longer cord.

Noise level is 52 decibels, comparable to a quiet conversation. For near-silent operation in your bathing space, the chiller can be placed in an adjacent room or behind a partition.

Voltage Stabiliser

A voltage stabiliser protects the compressor and electronics from power fluctuations. In certain countries, this is a requirement for your warranty to remain valid.

Where a stabiliser is not required

EU, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea. The power supply in these regions is stable enough to operate without one.

Where a stabiliser is required

All other countries, including Indonesia, the Middle East, most of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. A voltage stabiliser rated at minimum 2,000VA must be connected between the power outlet and the chiller at all times.

Important: Operating without a voltage stabiliser where one is required voids the chiller warranty immediately. If our service engineer inspects your unit and finds no stabiliser connected, the warranty will not apply. We strongly recommend purchasing one before delivery.

Surface and Base

Every ice bath is designed with raised legs that keep the teak completely off the ground. There is full airflow underneath, preventing any moisture trapping or degradation. No matting, padding, or base protection is needed. Place the bath directly on any flat, stable surface.

Water Management

No plumbing is required. The system is entirely self-contained with its own water reservoir and chiller. Water changes are done manually, approximately once a month for residential use. We recommend positioning near a drain for convenience, but it is not needed for operation.

The water level sits 15 to 20cm below the rim, so the bath does not overflow during use. For commercial or indoor settings on non-draining surfaces, an absorbent mat or towel station beside the bath manages any drips.

Chiller Placement Options

The chiller connects to the bath via stainless steel hoses and can be positioned in several ways depending on your space.

Beside the bath. The standard setup. Bath and chiller side by side with the included hoses. Total footprint approximately 2m wide.

In an adjacent room. Route hoses through a wall or partition. No noise and no warm air in the bathing space.

Under the steps. Our teak steps are designed with space underneath for the chiller. Saves floor space and keeps the installation clean.

Behind a partition. In commercial or spa settings, the chiller can be concealed behind a screen or utility panel. Ensure 20cm clearance on all sides for ventilation.

Relocating Your Ice Bath

Every unit is plug and play. To move your ice bath to a new location, drain the water using the built-in drainage outlet, disconnect the stainless steel hoses, move the bath and chiller to the new location, then reconnect, refill, and allow approximately 5 hours to reach temperature.

No plumber or electrician needed. If the chiller has been transported or tilted, allow 2 to 4 hours for the compressor to settle before powering on.
