Maintenance Overview
A complete overview of every maintenance task for your ice bath, with a master schedule for residential and commercial use.
Your ice bath system has three areas that need periodic care: the water, the chiller, and the wood. Each has its own detailed guide with full step-by-step instructions. This page provides a brief explanation of what each task involves and a single schedule you can follow.
Detailed guides.
For full instructions on how to carry out each task, refer to the individual guides:
Water Maintenance (Residential) . For households with up to 5 plunges per day.
Water Maintenance (Commercial) . For hotels, spas, gyms, and venues with higher daily usage.
Wood Maintenance . For both residential and commercial, covering teak care and restoration.
Chiller Maintenance . For both residential and commercial, covering the chilling unit itself.
What Each Task Involves
A brief explanation of every maintenance task so you know what it is before looking at the schedule.
Water Tasks
Shower before each plunge. A 30-second rinse before getting in. Removes sweat, oils, sunscreen, and lotions that are the main cause of cloudy water. The single most effective thing you can do for water quality.
Replace the lid after each session. Putting the thermal insulation lid back on the ice bath whenever it is not in active use. Keeps debris out, holds the temperature, and reduces energy consumption.
Clean the filter. Removing the stainless steel mesh particle filter from the chiller, rinsing it under running water to clear debris, and reinstalling it. Takes about 2 minutes.
Change the water. Draining the bath completely, wiping the interior with a soft cloth, and refilling with fresh water. Takes about 30 minutes including refill time. For commercial use, hydrogen peroxide is added at this point.
System flush. Running a pipe cleaning solution through the chiller and hoses to clear residue that builds up inside the plumbing over time. Takes about 1 hour. Similar to descaling a kettle.
Chiller Tasks
Check chiller clearance. Making sure nothing has been placed against the chiller and that there is at least 20cm of clear space on all sides for ventilation. A quick visual check.
Inspect hose connections. Looking at all four hose connection points (two on the chiller, two on the bath) for any signs of moisture, drips, or looseness. Tighten by hand if needed.
Clean the condenser. Removing the chiller cover and brushing or spraying dust off the condenser fins inside. This is the most important chiller maintenance task. Dust on the condenser makes the chiller work harder and cool less efficiently.
Rinse the evaporator. Rinsing the cooling coil inside the chiller with clean water to clear dust and mineral buildup. Usually done at the same time as the condenser cleaning since the cover is already off.
Check voltage stabiliser. Confirming the voltage stabiliser (if your installation requires one) is powered on, the indicator light is active, and the cables are secure. Only applies to countries where a stabiliser is required.
Replace the UV bulb. Removing the old UV-C disinfection bulb from the chiller and installing a new one. The bulb may still glow after its effective life has passed, so replacement is based on hours of use, not whether it looks like it is working. Contact the team for replacement bulbs.
Wood Tasks
Wipe down the exterior. Wiping the teak surfaces of the ice bath and chiller cover with a damp cloth and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Removes grime and keeps the wood looking clean.
Full refinish. Sanding the teak exterior with fine-grit sandpaper and applying 2 to 3 coats of wood finish to restore the original factory appearance. Only needed for outdoor units where the finish has faded from sun, wind, and rain exposure. Indoor units do not need this. Takes about 1.5 hours.
