Water Not Cooling

Work through these checks in order. Most cooling issues are resolved within the first three steps.

Before you troubleshoot: is the water actually warm? The chiller does not run continuously. Once it reaches your target temperature, the compressor switches off. It kicks back in when the water rises approximately 2 degrees above your target. So if you have set a target of 6 degrees and the water is reading 7.5 degrees, this is normal. The chiller is about to cycle on. This is how the thermostat is designed to work and is not a fault.

Start here

1. Check the filter.

This is the most common cause of cooling issues. When the filter becomes blocked with debris, it restricts water flow into the chilling machine. If the flow is restricted enough, the chiller will automatically turn itself off as a safety measure. Open the rear access panel, use the black filter key to remove the filter, and rinse it thoroughly under a tap. If it is heavily clogged, swap it for one of the spare filters included with your unit. Reinsert, restart the chiller, and check if cooling resumes. Keeping the filter clean is the single most important thing you can do to keep your chiller running properly.

2. Check the app.

Open the Tuya Smart app on your phone. Check two things: is Auto Work switched on, and is the target temperature set to the temperature you actually want? If Auto Work is off, the chiller will not maintain your target temperature.

3. Check the power.

Look at the ATorch power monitor screen on the chiller. If the screen is blank, no power is reaching the unit. Check that the plug is in, the socket is switched on, and if you are using a voltage stabiliser, that the stabiliser is also powered on.

If the chiller is running but the water is not getting cold

4. Check ventilation clearance.

The chiller needs at least 20cm of clear space on the fan side. If it is pushed against a wall, blocked by furniture, or enclosed in a tight space without airflow, the warm air cannot escape and the chiller overheats. Move any obstructions and give it room to breathe.

5. Listen for the pump.

You should be able to hear a gentle hum from the pump and see or feel water moving through the hoses. If the compressor is running but you cannot hear the pump or feel any water flow, the water is not circulating through the chiller. This means the chiller is cooling internally but the cold water is not reaching the bath. Contact our support team.

6. Check the water level.

If the water level has dropped significantly (from evaporation or use), the pump intake may not be fully submerged. This can cause the pump to draw air instead of water, which stops circulation. Top up the bath with fresh water until the level is 15 to 20cm below the rim.

If you have recently moved or reconnected the unit

7. Allow settling time.

If the chiller has been moved, transported, tipped, or unplugged for an extended period, the refrigerant inside the compressor needs time to settle before it can cool effectively. Wait at least 4 hours after any movement before powering on. If you plugged it in immediately after moving it, unplug it now, wait 4 hours, and try again.

8. Check hose connections.

If hoses were disconnected and reconnected, make sure they are connected to the correct points. Barrel and Column: Point A on the bath connects to Point X on the chiller. Point B on the bath connects to Point Y on the chiller. Cube: the connections are reversed. Point A on the bath connects to Point Y on the chiller. Point B on the bath connects to Point X on the chiller. If the hoses are connected the wrong way around, the water will still flow but cooling will be significantly reduced.

Still not cooling? Contact our support team. To help us diagnose quickly, please send: a photo of the ATorch power monitor screen, a screenshot of your Tuya app showing the current temperature and target temperature, and whether you can hear the pump running. Most issues can be resolved remotely in a single conversation.
