Sanded by Hand
Before any coating is applied, every surface is sanded meticulously by hand. This is not a step that can be rushed or automated. The sanding prepares the wood grain, removes any imperfections from the assembly process, and creates the smooth, even surface that allows the finish to bond properly.
The quality of the sanding determines the quality of the finish. We take our time here.
Multiple Layers of Protection
Each ice bath receives multiple coats of marine-grade protection. The process begins with a primer and sealer that penetrates the teak grain, followed by protective coats that build the barrier against water, UV exposure, and the elements.
The final coat is a UV-cured finish imported from the United States. This is the same category of coating technology used in high end marine applications.
We chose this system because the result is a beautiful matt finish that stays as close to the natural colour of the teak as possible.
Cured in Minutes, Not Days
Traditional wood finishes take days to dry between coats. Each day the surface sits exposed, dust settles, humidity fluctuates, and the quality of the finish degrades.
We built a finishing system to solve this problem. A custom built sealing room, kitted out with a rotating platform on which the icebath spins 360 degrees in front of a powerful UV light. The coating cures in minutes, not days. This means we can apply multiple coats in rapid succession, each one bonding to the last while it is still in perfect condition.
The sealed room eliminates dust contamination. The rotation ensures even coverage. The UV light hardens the coating to a level of durability that air-drying simply cannot achieve.
The result is a finish that protects the wood, preserves the natural colour, and feels exactly the way teak should feel.
Matt as Standard. Gloss on Request.
Every ice bath leaves our factory with a matt finish. We believe matt best honours the natural character of the teak, letting the grain, the colour, and the warmth of the wood speak for themselves.
For customers who prefer a gloss finish, this is available on request. We also offer custom wood finishes for those who want their ice bath to match a specific colour palette or interior scheme.
